Good article, Terry. When I first took up golf at age 13 (49 years ago -- WOW!) a family friend gave me Ben Hogan's book on the "five fundamentals" and I practically memorized it. The illustrations by Anthony Ravielli were a perfect complement to Ben Hogan's words and I spent hours memorizing how to put my hands on a club just like Hogan -- to the point of trying to reproduce every wrinkle on my right thumb and forefinger. I took pride in having that fundamentally sound grip and enjoyed playing better than average golf for 43 years, until arthritis and a bad back forced me to quit playing the game I loved.
